Wind ruffled his fur as his nose picked up a bundled of new scents. The scents of prey were pushed to the side, even as his stomach rumbled. It had been a long time since he had scented this many wolves. They might be stale, but it was the most amazing thing Jeriko had ever experienced. The wind ruffled his fur yet again it seemed to urge him forward. Telling him to take a step so his scent would mix with the others. He closed his eyes, took a deep breathe, and stepped over the line. His body tensed ready for someone to jump out at him. Ready for a whole pack of wolves to run him out. But he heard nothing, only the other animals going about there lives. Jeriko took a few more hesitant steps into the territory, someone would come by he was sure. They would scent him, there would likely be more than one, he was too weak right now to take on one wolf, in perfect health. He would stand no chance against two wolves, but he couldn't make it one his own anymore either. He had lost weight, too much for a wolf his size. Jeriko still looked scary he knew that, but you can look scary and not be able to fight when it comes time. He slowly laid down, coming to the decision that it would be wrong to enter the territory of another with out permission. He would wait. A group would come to check out the scent and he would wait here for them. It was the respectable thing to do, this wasn't his home, not yet. He closed his eyes, Hopefully, I'll have a home soon, he thought before again opening his eyes.
Frost would be proud of him if he could see him now. He was waiting, being patient, he was hardly ever patient. He hadn't paced once, yet, as he was waiting. He had stayed put in his laying position, although he was pretty sure he was too tired to even try to push himself up. Jeriko poked out his chest proud of himself even if it did take him being dead tried to be patient. It was his new start, he had to start with baby steps and slowly each step would get bigger and bigger until there were no steps left. The wind rushed through his fur, he could feel the places it was now standing up in grumbling. "I know what your doing, Frost!" He grumbled as he fixed his hair mumbling fake threats to what sounded like no one at all but himself. He carefully made sure that all of the leaves were picked out, each piece of his fur was lying the correct way, and he didn't look like he had been walking for several days nonstop.
What do I say when they show up? Be nice don't say anything rude. Be respectful your good at that! Oh, why am I thinking so hard about this! Just be you, Jeriko! With a nod of his head he went back to waiting, his own pep talk and a grooming he was ready for whatever wolves were coming for him.

The large wolf had been close to falling asleep. His eyes had grown heavy yet he pushed himself to keep his eyes on the treeline. Every part of his body was telling him to turn and run but he couldn't not now. He was too close to having a pack and he wasn't giving it up now. He heard something move in the trees but ignored it, he was down wind and couldn't smell a thing it was most likely an animal wondering around in search of something not covered in snow or dead. Or it could be the wolves! They could finally be here. It was probably the biggest and meanest wolf they had come to tear him limb from limb. He gulped as he waited for the wolf to show itself.
Jeriko's muscles tensed when the she-wolf showed herself. He tilted his head to the side as he looked her over. She was not what he had expected, she was rather small, but the way she stood demanded respect whether you would give it or she would make you respect her. She was talking like she was paranoid though, the hairs on the back of his pelt stood straight up at the thought of another wolf being hunted. Shaking the thoughts of hunting from his head he started to stand up before he stopped, standing might make the she-wolf frightened so he stayed down lying his head on his paws to show her he would not do anything to her.
"May name is Jeriko. I am alone." He stated simply as the wind ruffled his fur. He knew Frost was trying to tell him something but Jeriko had no clue what it was. He couldn't think about that now he needed to gain the females trust somehow. He couldn't figure out why it mattered so much to him for her to trust him he usually never cared. But getting that trust seemed like an impossible job to do at the moment. "It's up to you to believe me or not. I have no pack, but I wish to have one. I came to you. If you'll have me, if not I can go find this Bantu I guess. Although I don't know where he is and I don't think I'd like him." Jeriko grumbled as he got to his feet unable to stay still any longer. He stretched his long legs. Taking his time to get his hair back in place on the bottom part of his coat perfectly in order. "I mean you no harm, female." He blinked down at the very much smaller female. He felt was though he towered over her.
How to make her more comfortable was proving to be hard for Jeriko, he knew what he was saying was coming off as a threat but he didn't mean it that way. Frowning he turned and walked the few steps to the border of the territory and sat on the other side looking across it to the female. "You will win if we fight. I am not dumb, I can see that." Jeriko looked down at the ground and dead leaves, "Does your pack have room for a wolf with nothing and no one?"

➟ a l l e g r o female » crushless » alpha female » talking with Jeriko/font] The wolf may think she was joking, but there was a gloomy glow in her brilliant eyes that spoke the truth. "I hope you don't mean me any harm, because that means I will mean you none. My pack is always in need of members. What rank among my pack do you seek, Jeriko?" Her tone was complete formality, cold and distant. She didn't care for accepting wolves, but it was her job as an Alpha. Allegro remained tense and standing, her body a clear line of dominance. Jeriko watched the female, she had a right to be acting the way she was. Her pack was endanger of some stupid male who apparently thought he could take on this little fea. She was not something to mess with, she was something to run from. She would do damage to any wolf that she came across, and not little bite marks, they would go home bleeding and hoping they would make it through the night. As she spoke Jeriko listened closely, while on ear listened for movement around them.
He was now worried about, this Bantu, who was apparently after the alpha. War was not something to play around with and he didn't think this alpha would lie about it. If she thought he was in league with Bantu than the evil wolf might be lurking close to the borders. He wouldn't let the male hurt the alpha, if Bantu showed up it would be Jeriko's fault that the alpha was in the position she was in. Out in the open with no other wolves close by to protect her. He had drawn her out here so it was his job at the moment to make sure she at least made it back in the woods safely. That is what he had always been taught protect the alpha, protect the pack. This female would hopefully be his new alpha, there was no way he was going to let his guard down for a second. When she asked him what rank he wanted his thoughts started to jumble. He hadn't ever been told in his old pack what he was good at. Other than fighting, but that was only because he was stronger than the rest of the pups.
The only thing I was ever taught to do was protect. But I failed at that. Jeriko thought, it was the only answer better than, 'I like to fight.' Boy, would that go over well with the alpha ready to launch herself at him. "I was only taught one thing in my pack. And that was to protect the alpha and protect the pack. It's the only thing I enjoy doing." He stared the alpha in the eyes. No challenge was anywhere to be seen in them. He slowly slide down until his belly barely touched the ground, without breaking eye contact he slowly rolled over onto his back. He cringed at the idea of all the leaves he would have to pick out of his fur later. If even lived that long. He was putting himself in a dangerous place, with his belly exposed the alpha could easily come across the border and rip him to shreds. Although, he had a good feeling she wouldn't do that it was still not something he was a hundred percent comfortable with. His eyes still trained on the marvelous female he spoke, his voice calm and collected. "I have seen a pack destroyed, Alpha, and I wish to help you so you do not have to watch what I have."

Now she moved to the rank he requested. "We have a position available as my guard, but I do not feel comfortable electing a wolf I just met with that rank. You will serve as a guard and accompany me whenever you feel is necessary. Your actions will determine whether you are promoted, or remain a guard. Both positions are honors. Jeriko, you are welcome to cross my border as a pack wolf."[/ul][/ul][/ul]

Jeriko watched as the Alpha seemed to relax. He was glad to see that she wasn't always snarling, but he wasn't happy she let her guard down this close to the border. He knew she was most likely still very alert, but he still didn't like the idea of someone being able to sneak up on her. Although, he would never speak his concerns to his new alpha. Maybe, later when they both new each other, maybe then he would tell her how he felt. When she stated she had a position open as her guard, he knew that was where he wanted be. To protect an alpha was an extreme honor. Plus, if he got it it would give him a chance to learn more about the fea. She was defiantly an interesting character. Her size reminded him of Frost and the way she held herself, but the personalities seemed to go in totally different directions. Slowly her last words registered in his mind, she was welcoming him into her pack.
Jeriko quickly popped to his feet, shaking out his coat, he mentally groaned at the grooming he would have to do later. He stopped right in front of the border, when he had first crossed it had been easy. He had crossed as a nobody then. This time he would be crossing as an accepted member of the pack. He hadn't been apart of a pack in years, he had been on his own; Fight for himself, feed himself, sleep alone, and in total isolation. When he crossed he would be a part of something. He would fight side by side with others, hunt for others, sleep closer to them than he would like, and never alone. He would bond with his new pack, because of the war and hardships of pack life. He would at some point cry, mourn, laugh, and relax with the pack.
Jeriko looked down at the ground. That was exactly what he wanted. He pushed the thoughts of his birth pack away as he took a steady step over the invisible line. When all for paws were across a huge gust of wind hit him ruffling his fur, he smiled as he lifted his head to allow the wind more access. When he looked at the Alpha the smile was still on his face, although it wasn't as big as it had been. "I will show you I am worthy of the position you give me. I am honored to protect your pack and honored to even be considered to guard you, Alpha." Jeriko dipped his head to her as he walked closer. He didn't stop at where the alpha had found him but moved closer. He didn't get close enough to invade her space, just closer.
Peace swept over him as he sat down. He had finally found home. It had taken him awhile but he was here. He could hear his daughter in the back of his mind, 'took you long enough to figure it out! You don't like being alone!' He smirked she would have said that, he would serve his new pack well. He would not disappoint the alpha and he would not disappoint his daughter who was for sure watching him. Jeriko knew now he needed to focus on getting healthy again though before he could do any real damage to an enemy. Hopefully, it wouldn't take more than a few good meals and practice sparring before he got just a little bit of his muscles and weight back. Then he could do his job and show her that he would protect her and he would protect her pack.
